The Putney School recognizes that all students learn differently.
Every student is unique and we know that when it comes to learning, one size doesn’t fit all.
We pay close attention to the individual learning styles of each of our students. Faculty and support staff help students develop the tools, self-awareness, and advocacy skills necessary to become confident, active, and independent learners.
We’re that way by design. Student agency is the cornerstone of our educational approach. When students are heard, understood, and supported to follow their passions in their own ways, we see them push themselves further and learn more than they ever thought possible.
Our small classes, supervised independent studies, advising program, college counseling services, and Center for Teaching and Learning ensure each student has the necessary academic and social tools they need for success.
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) serves as a resource for all students who want to maximize their learning. The CTL offers structured and comprehensive strength-based academic support in the form of executive function coaching, study skills instruction, and content area tutorials. In addition, the CTL provides all students with the opportunity to meet with tutors during drop-in hours and in the evenings during our supervised study labs.
