Fall Play: The Laramie Project
November 22, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm EST
View our fall production of “The Laramie Project.” Written by by Moisés Kaufman and the members of the Tectonic Theater Project, this play is based on more than 200 interviews with the people of Laramie, Wyoming after the murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard in 1998.
The students at the Putney School are politically engaged and Laramie feels unfortunately apt for this moment as it speaks to the limits of tolerance, power of protest, dynamics of a divided community, and the ongoing violence against LGBTQ+ folks.
In addition to the production there will be a student curated gallery exhibit that will feature more information on hate crimes alongside student artwork that responds to the themes of the play. This work will also be shared online.
Due to Covid-19, the performance will be presented with actors wearing clear masks and distanced at six feet, but we are truly lucky to have the opportunity to be on stage together making art.
