Project Week: Covid Fashion Around the World

Sarah ’17 establishes a new garden at Putney to cultivate indigenous wildlife, in partnership with Nayderson ’20.
We devote lots of energy to studying how math is present and important in the world around us.
The Putney School recently redesigned our graduation requirements in terms of a student’s skills and proficiencies in specific academic areas, rather than in traditional terms of “seat-time” in class. In addition to overarching educational through lines such as collaboration, literacy, and argumentation, each academic department has articulated skills and content particular to that discipline. These “footprint videos” are traces of the various projects, activities, and challenges Putney students navigate in the sciences as they learn the specific skills and knowledge required for graduation.

Putney is all about students chasing their intellectual curiosities, forging connections, and working with adults to help this place run and evolve. We asked three questions: What are you most excited to be learning these days? What has surprised you about Putney? How have you enjoyed contributing to this community?
We believe that knowledge only gains power from being applied and extended. The Putney School has led the movement in project-based learning and integrated academics through our semi-annual Project Weeks. Over 9 days, students propose and work with faculty mentors to carry out individual projects related to their academic coursework.
