Step 1: Get started.

We use Clarity to make applying for financial aid as easy as possible for your family. Clarity determines your family’s level of financial need based on the information that you share in the application. The streamlined, user-friendly process can take as little as 20 minutes to complete.

Step 2: Submit your info.

Save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there’s a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.

Step 3: Upload tax forms.

Your 1040 and W-2 documents from the previous tax year will be automatically transferred from the IRS when you complete the verification step. But please remember to return to your dashboard after you submit to upload any additional tax documentation.

  1. Tuition includes the cost of academic instruction, meals and residence for boarding students.
  2. Tuition Refund Insurance is required for all students to help insure tuition fees in the event of a student’s withdrawal, absence, dismissal or separation from the school according to the terms of the policy.
  3. Refundable damage deposit (new students only).
  4. A $400 fee for usage of the on campus health services office.
  5. This is an estimate for textbooks for courses and fees associated with some arts courses.
  6. At certain times of year, Putney does offer transportation shuttles at an additional fee. Please contact the Dean of Students office for more details.
  7. Students are required to have health insurance that is accepted in Vermont. International students are required to purchase the international plan offered by the school’s Health Service Office.
  8. Refundable International student emergency deposit (new student only).
  9. Fee for students enrolled in courses offered in English for Speakers of Other Languages.
  10. Private music lessons are offered on a trimester basis and are charged by the hour.
  11. Horseback riding is offered as an afternoon activity on a trimester basis. The fee is based on the number of afternoons your student rides per week.
  12. Downhill skiing is offered twice per week during the winter trimester. The fee includes lift tickets and transportation to and from the mountain. Equipment rental is an additional cost.
  13. Appropriate sports and physical activity equipment should be anticipated (cleats, shin guards, dance shoes, etc). Sports uniforms will be provided for use with a security deposit charged to the students’ account.
  14. One on one tutoring sessions are offered to students who require them for an additional fee.
