Arts are a part of everyday life at Putney. Students in visual art courses increase their awareness of the visual world, develop skills to creatively translate their ideas into visible form, and gain an understanding of the context and language of each discipline.
We treat the arts as full flown academic pursuits, and offer “a tasting platter” through the Evening Arts program. Studio art courses further seek to support the controlled development of a student’s unique imagination and emotion into visible form, and to promote an intellectual understanding of the basic formal elements and technical processes of a discipline.
We offer academic art courses, as well as art courses through our Evening Arts program, where students are encouraged to explore their artistic and creative possibilities.
Free and open to all, our art gallery and performing arts center is a hub for student artwork, plays, and creative expression.
